Des origines du chronographe à nos jours. 

L'auteur nous indique qu'a partir de 1861 les grands noms de l'horlogerie comme Pouzait, Sarton, Moinet, Rieussec, Perrelet, Jacob...avaient mis en place toutes les technologies permettant de fabriquer des chronographes tels qu'ils sont définis aujourd'hui. Il passe donc en revue plus de 160 reproductions de calibres en explorant aussi les premiers lieux de production, d'abord la Vallée de Joux et Genève puis par la suite de manière plus industrielle la production s'intensifie sur le Locle, La Chaux-de-Fonds, St Imier.

Le chronographe de poche n'avait jusqu'à ce jour jamais bénéficié d'une telle étude.
